Although the construction of large custom homes has been our staple for a number of years, our current concentration has been on building affordable, custom styled homes with between 1650 and 3000 square feet. These homes though smaller is size are built with the same attention to detail as we have been accustomed. One look inside a BirgerHome and you will see that room for room, these smaller and more affordable homes can stand "toe to toe" with homes costing hundreds of thousands more.
We put large Crown Mouldings and Tall Baseboards in every room. Our Stairs and Flooring in the Great Room and Dining Room are made of Oak Hardwood for durability. Tile is used extensively in Bathrooms, Kitchen, Breakfast, and Laundry areas. Bedrooms have high grade 42 Ounce Carpeting on a comfortable pad. Kitchen Cabinetry is now custom built with actual plywood boxes and overlaid with frames and doors made from the finest Hardwood selections available. Elliptical Arched openings between rooms are available in some houses and radias corners on sheetrock is standard. Our trademark feature continues to be the ellaborate use of Interior Millwork. When you step into a BirgerHome, you will recognize right away the passion we have for hardwood mouldings and fine craftsmanship. The custom built Fireplace Mantle always provides a dramatic focal point for the Great Room and its Vaulted Ceiling. Detailed Crown Blocks wrapped with Mouldings abound in Trey Ceilings in Master Bedrooms and Dining Rooms. Closets are front and center as well. Open the swinging ball catch doors to find wood shelving and multi-level clothes racks. No wire here, only the best!
It is important to know that visual quality is only one half of the story. Unseen details of construction knowledge, materials, and labor are buried well within the walls and concrete of a BirgerHome. Extra thick footings with extra steel reinforcing tied at corners with 40 diameter overlap is a commercial standard that we use and is rarely found in residential construction. Footings are placed within tolerances that allow for Block to be laid perfectly level and square to within a quarter of an inch over a 60 foot diagonal. Framing begins on a solid concrete slab and block substructure that is always right. The best materials are used for framing. When there is a choice, dimensional and laminated beams are oversized rather than stressing a cheaper alternative to bear a wall or roof support. Exterior sheathing is carefully wrapped with Tyvec. Windows and house wrap edges are flashed and taped to insure against air and moisture infiltration. Insulation is professionally done with extra attention to areas most often overlooked such as sill to foundation, penetrations to the outside and between floors, and areas beside doors and windows. Extensive use of foam and urethane caulking additionally insure that your home will be highly energy efficient.
Electrical, Plumbing, and HVAC Systems are carefully installed with chases and runs well thought out. Houses with basements are plumbed for a future bathroom and ceilings are placed a 9 feet so that ductwork will have plenty of room if a finished basement is required in the future.
We understand your objectives in home ownership. You want an affordable home that is a pleasure to come home to. You want that home to retain its value and be easy to maintain. At BirgerHomes we take pride in providing you with the best home your money can buy. We accomplish that through meticulous management of labor as well as regularly intense study of materials quality and pricing.
